This advanced full time four wheel drive system was originally developed for Mitsubishi's racing program for the 2007 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution which saw heavy use and success on rally courses around the world. The current Eclipse and Outlander models use an advanced version of this S-AWC technology which is a 4WD-based integrated vehicle dynamics control system. It integrates Active Yaw Control (AYC), Active Center Differential (ACD) and Sports ABS components while braking force is added allowing regulation of torque and braking force to each wheel.
